Bolognese belongs to the section of Bichons (FCI Group 9). They are originated from Italy as companion rare breed. First remarks of Bolognese are dated since 11.–12. century, where thanks to their beauty, charm and attraction were valued. Bolognese was precious gift for monarch and the highest aristocracy. Bolognese is connected to the names as Madame de Pompadour, tsarina Catrine the Great and Maria Terezia, which loves and owns them. Philipe II, king of Spain thanks for this gifts from Duke d´Este with this words: „These little dogs are the most royal gifts one can make to an emperor.“
Thanks to their beauty and excellent character Bolognese appears much time on the pictures of Titian and Goya.
